Day Training Program

Learning. Connecting. Growing.

Programs

For Brighter Days

Day Training Programs at Cornerstone focus on the development and enhancement of daily adaptive living skills, such as motor skills, range of motion, cognitive awareness, communication and activities of daily living. Known informally as The School, residents love attending programs and spending time with other residents and staff. As they acquire new skills, residents gain a sense of autonomy, personal choice and greater independence.

We Make Learning Fun

Our Day Training team members are passionate about helping residents reach their full potential. We love to see our residents laugh and have fun as they accomplish a new goal.

Team members are also highly qualified to support residents' needs. Program development and oversight is provided by full-time Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDPs). Individualized Program Plans are implemented by certified Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Specialized adaptive equipment is also available to enhance the learning process.

Improving Quality of Life

The program’s intent is to:

  1. Continue to expand upon previously acquired skills of each person served,
  2. Work toward independent living through use of interdisciplinary skill training,
  3. Develop individualized program plans that have functional goals rather than task-oriented goals,
  4. Provide functional recreational activities, and
  5. Provide community support.

The Day Training Program is licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
